There is no forgiveness for those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit. What exactly does this mean? Simply put, when you refuse to accept Jesus being God, refuse His atoning sacrifice on the cross, and refuse to accept the only remedy for our sin that God provides, we will not be forgiven. How can God substitute Jesus’ sacrifice on your behalf when you don’t feel you need it? How can God give you eternal life in Heaven when you refuse the ticket that gains your entrance? How can a sick man be healed with medicine when he refuses to take it? How can a man run and win a race, when he never signs up to enter it? The only thing that stands between man and God is pride. When a man’s pride fills him up, there’s no room left for God. Refusing to believe God, leads to rejecting His atonement for our sin, which ultimately leads to our rejection into His kingdom. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is saying “NO” to God’s love for us. And that “NO” leads to “NO” forgiveness. God cannot, and will not forgive someone who refuses His forgiveness. How can He?
28 “I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven,29 but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences.”30 He told them this because they were saying, “He’s possessed by an evil spirit.”
