Just think what disobedience causes? Here we have a man who was healed from leprosy. Jesus specifically told him to not tell anyone, but go show himself to the priest. What did the man do? Exactly what he was not supposed to do; he went and told everyone. What was the consequence of his disobedience? Jesus could no longer go into the towns. He had to stay outside the towns in remote places. The man thought he was doing good by telling people about how Jesus healed him, but in reality he was being disobedient to Jesus’ command. How often do we do this? How often do we disobey God, and think we are doing what’s right? King Saul did the same thing. Look where it got him, stripped of his kingdom and having it given to the one he despised, David. We need to stop trying to be god, and start being obedient to Him instead. It starts with asking Him to help us accomplish what we can’t do on our own.
40 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If You are willing, You can heal me and make me clean,” he said.41 Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” He said. “Be healed!” 42 Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed. 43 Then Jesus sent him on his way with a stern warning: 44 “Don’t tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.”45 But the man went and spread the word, proclaiming to everyone what had happened. As a result, large crowds soon surrounded Jesus, and He couldn’t publicly enter a town anywhere. He had to stay out in the secluded places, but people from everywhere kept coming to Him.
