Here’s a short, but profound truth: true humility comes from spending time with God. The Bible tells us that Moses was a very humble man; more humble than any other person on earth. What do you think made him that way? Time spent with God. If you want more humility and self-control in your life, you have the opportunity to develop it. It’s on your knees before God. I once read a story about a grandfather giving his grandson advice. The man told his grandson, “every night push your shoes far under your bed”. The grandson was baffled as to why. Grandpa answered, “so every morning, before you start your day, you have to get on your knees in order to go out”. Humility starts the night before, putting your shoes far under the bed. God delights in our pursuit of Him. And you benefit with the shaping of your character while in His Presence.
