The problems the world experiences can be stemmed from the simplest explanation: man thinks his own way is right. This is the root of our sinful nature. “I’m right”, is the core of our problems. Because we think “we are right”, we feel justified in defending ourselves. Because “we are right”, we don’t have to apologize on our part of the problem. Because “I’m right”, I don’t need to listen to wise counsel. Because “I am right”, we don’t need God. This is simply ludicrous. “Being right” doesn’t mean you are self-sufficient. It doesn’t mean you are on top. It doesn’t mean you need to stop listening to wise counsel. Knowing we are sinners, tells us that we will “never arrive”. Our excrement stinks just as bad as the person next door. The second you adopt this “I’m right attitude”, you need to “nip it in the bud”, because if you don’t, a large dose of humility is coming your way. And when it does, Someone Else “is right” in administering it to you. God’s love will not allow pride, “I’m right”, to linger long, for He knows it’s detrimental effects.
15 Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.
Proverbs 12:15
