Fear Success In Things That Don’t Matter To God….

“Life without God is meaningless”. These are not my words, they are King Solomon’s words. According to the Bible, King Solomon was wiser than any other king in earth. Yet when you read the book of Ecclesiastes, you learn how miserable he was throughout the majority of his life. He violated God’s standards. He had over 700 wives, that in and of itself could drive a man to madness. He gathered horses, which God told the kings to never do. Solomon was paid a billion dollars annually from all the tribute money from the surrounding areas. With all of this, he didn’t find purpose and meaning. It’s was all “chasing after the wind”. So what does all of this prove? You can have success, fame, riches, and self-pleasure, but without God, it’s only temporary. It doesn’t last. It won’t deliver on the promises that it makes. God is the Fulfiller and Sustainer of life. The joy and peace He brings suffices and sustains our deepest desires to be significant. I think we all should adopt the kind of attitude that comes from this quote, “I do not fear failure, rather I fear success in things that don’t matter to God”. Solomon knew this, yet it took him an entire lifetime to figure out what he knew to be true early on in his life. Take his example and allow it to steer you in the direction he realized at the end of his life, NOW. Save yourself some self-inflicted pain, pursue God today, and every day. It’s a decision you won’t regret.

23 So King Solomon became richer and wiser than any other king on earth. 1 Kings 10:23
