Sin is sin. “There is not one greater than another”, you hear all the time, however some sins have greater consequences than others. If you read carefully through the words of Jesus, you’ll find that there is one sin that holds the greatest of significance. It is the sin of unbelief. It is impossible for God to save if we don’t trust Him. This not only applies to unbelievers (hence the name), but also for those who call themselves Christians. Think about it, those who have trusted God with their souls by repenting of their sin and being baptized, and yet worry and stress over things because they don’t believe God will provide, protect, or walk with them through a dark time, only shows how deep and real their faith is or isn’t. I’m guilty of this quite often. Not taking God at His Word, and not believing He’ll do what He has promised, makes Him angry. I mean what does He have to do to gain our respect and trust? Hasn’t He done enough? He gives us the air in our lungs that supplies the oxygen to our brains to remember all that He’s done in the past, correct? He’s given us the intellectual ability to override our feelings when they lead us down the wrong path by recalling the truths of scripture, correct? And most importantly, we are still here, meaning His love and patience for and with us demonstrate we are still useful enough to Him and that He’s not done with us yet, right? Trust Him today, with all of your heart, it’s what He wants, and it’s the only thing we can really do to show Him we are grateful for all that He’s done.
17 Yet they kept on sinning against Him,rebelling against the Most High in the desert.18 They stubbornly tested God in their hearts, demanding the foods they craved.19 They even spoke against God Himself, saying,“God can’t give us food in the wilderness.20 Yes, He can strike a rock so water gushes out,but He can’t give His people bread and meat.”21 When the Lord heard them, He was furious. The fire of His wrath burned against Jacob.Yes, His anger rose against Israel,22 for they did not believe God or trust Him to care for them.23 But He commanded the skies to open;He opened the doors of heaven.24 He rained down manna for them to eat;He gave them bread from heaven.25 They ate the food of angels!God gave them all they could hold.
