One thing those that honor the name of Jesus must accept well in advance is the fact that opposition will occur in your witnessing. Mockers will abound in your life. You will be made fun of. Once you accept this guarantee, your faithfulness in your witness will be prepared to be steadfast as you press on to win those destined to hear and respond to truth. Jesus talked about weighing the cost of being a disciple. He even gave detailed analogies about a builder accessing the cost before building, and a king accessing his troops before going into battle. You will be persecuted for being a follower of Jesus. That’s a guarantee. Once you accept this truth, you’ll be better prepared to handle it when it happens. When it does, ask God for His power to overcome, and the reason you’re witnessing in the first place. The reason why you do it is because you love God, you want to help hurting, desperate souls, and want the ones destined to experience God’s love to know how to gain eternal life.
10 The runners went from town to town throughout Ephraim and Manasseh and as far as the territory of Zebulun. But most of the people just laughed at the runners and made fun of them. 11 However, some people from Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and went to Jerusalem.12 At the same time, God’s hand was on the people in the land of Judah, giving them all one heart to obey the orders of the king and his officials, who were following the word of the Lord.
