Reading through Romans chapter one I can’t help but apply to today what Paul wrote about in the latter part of the chapter. What are some signs of a rebellious, anti-God attitude? It’s foolish to acknowledge God. Doing things that everyone knows is wrong, or shouldn’t be done. Lives are filled and planned around sinful behaviors. Here’s the big one: they refuse to understand. When you refuse to understand, you’re in essence saying, “I don’t care, I only care about myself; you are not important”. This type of thinking only leads to broken promises, being heartless, and having no mercy. This is the exact opposite of what God is and opposite of what He wants from us. A life without God cannot, and will not produce qualities that God will honor. So any time you hear or see someone promoting love, compassion, or any of the like, and there’s no mention of God, it’s all a facade put up to get your money or something else you might possess. When you hear people promoting something in the name of love and will benefit you, and God is not given the credit, it’s not true. It’s only something being used to promote an agenda in which they will prosper from. Good examples of these are politicians. They pretend to use words like tolerance, justice, love, and benefits, yet when more closely examined it’s not the case. It’s more of a way to line their pockets with money and power. And when someone opposes their ideas, they refuse to understand, and thus prove my point about sinful behavior. This happens so often; it’s disguised under the umbrella of pseudo-compassion, false-Hope, and the skin of truth stuffed with a lie. People believe it because they don’t know Jesus, the maker of all real compassion, Hope, and truth. Without God, you will not only suffer in the end times judgement, but you’ll live your entire life believing a lie, and in the end have you eyes opened to truth only to be filled with regret. Start now. Be honest with yourself. Try to understand what’s going on. I can’t promise you your life will be a bed of roses, but I can promise you this: if you seek God out, whole-heartedly, He will reveal Himself to you. And when that happens, you won’t have to pretend anymore. You’ll know how to live and where you’re going when you die. Knowing this changes everything. It starts with your honesty in trying to understand, not refusing to.
18 But God shows His anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because He has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities–His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give Him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator Himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
