The worst thing a person can get from God, is exactly what he wants. When we ask God for things we want, and not what He wants (in line with His will), we usually find out why it wasn’t in God’s will in the first place. God eventually gives a rebel exactly what he wants to his own demise. Look at America today. Are we not just like the rebellious Israelites in the wilderness? Do we not make worthless decrees and regulations thinking we are bettering society? Do we not pollute ourselves with the very gifts God gives us? Do we not sacrifice our children at the expense of our careers? Be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it.
25 I gave them over to worthless decrees and regulations that would not lead to life. 26 I let them pollute themselves with the very gifts I had given them, and I allowed them to give their firstborn children as offerings to their gods–so I might devastate them and remind them that I alone am the Lord.
