There are three types of people when it comes to faith. There are those who are loyal to God. They take their faith seriously, living it out in all that they do. They cherish their relationship with God, and treat others as God would have them. They make mistakes, but don’t Waller in them. They repent and move forward with God’s help. Secondly, there are those who, as the Bible says “are enemies of God”. They hate God and everything associated with Him. Passive, blasĂ©, indifferent, “I don’t care”, “it’s ridiculous to believe” type people fall into this category as well. Then you have the third category of people, the pretenders. These are the ones who act sincere, they pretend to listen, but never put into practice what they know to be true. These are the “Luke warm” people Jesus talked about. Of the three types, God despises the pretenders more than the haters. At least the haters are more honest about their views of God than the pretenders are. Jesus said it best, “(pretenders) will be spewed out of My mouth”. Examine your life, are you a pretender? Do you have pretender qualities (we all do at times)? How does it make you feel knowing you are disingenuous? If it bothers you, do something about it today. Ask God to empower you with His Spirit. Ask Him to help you repent, leaving behind this “pseudo” lifestyle. Stop pretending and start living; living the way God intends us to live. Most people believe hating is the worst thing you can do. Personally, pretending is far worse behavior. And there’s biblical evidence to back it up.
31 So My people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money. 32 You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t act on it!
