There are restraints when it comes to our sexual behavior. “Rebellers” can give all kinds of answers as to why Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, but the Bible clearly tells us it was because of its shameful immorality. This includes their “twisted sexual desire” and their despise of authority. You see God designed us to work a certain way, so when we choose to go a different path, there are consequences for this rebellious behavior. There will always be right and wrong, and some in between behaviors. But one thing is crystal clear, God is just and His justice is the most appropriately “fair” judgements possible. God cannot lie, and He doesn’t make mistakes. So when we go against Him, we will always suffer, not because He doesn’t love us, rather because of our own choosing to live in a way that is detrimental to us and others. No matter how society views a lifestyle, no amount of popular acceptance will ever “make right” a “wrong behavior”. When you go against God, you will always lose. We are accountable to this truth, regardless if we believe it or not.
7 But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. 8 Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. 9 So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. 10 He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority. These people are proud and arrogant, daring even to scoff at supernatural beings without so much as trembling.
2 Peter 2:7-10
18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception. 19 They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.
2 Peter 2:18-19
