One of the simplest and most life-changing words in the English language is the word “Sorry”. It’s hard to say if you’re the offender, but medicine to the ears of the offended. It’s what God wants from us when we mess up. Yet so many people refuse to use it. If God is quick to forgive when we repent, why is it so hard to say? If forgiveness is right there waiting for us to experience, why are we so reluctant to say it? If we want to hear it when we are offended, why is it so hard to say? Simply because we don’t want to. It’s simply a matter of pride. We want what we are not willing to give. When you boil it down to the core, it’s hypocritical isn’t it? Who doesn’t want to be relieved of guilt and shame? The deeper question that needs to be asked is, “is not saying it really worth it”?
8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts.
1 John 1:8-10
