I bet that you’ve read the four Gospels many times, but never remembered or contemplated this passage. These words of Simeon penetrate the soul. What he stated over 2,000 years ago still rings true to this day. How we handle Jesus determines everything. We will stand or fall. We will oppose or align with. Our deepest thoughts in our hearts are revealed in how we approach Jesus. He is the Author and Giver of life. How we see Jesus determines everything. He pierces every soul, but it’s our reaction to that confrontation that determines the destiny and attitude of our life. Is Jesus Lord of your life? If not, do you think it’s the cause of your current state of mind?
33 Jesus’ parents were amazed at what was being said about Him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, but He will be a joy to many others. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose Him. 35 As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”
Luke 2:33-35
