In the current state of our country, in the tumultuous times we live, we have the power to bless or curse. In a world that fluctuates and thrives on anxiety and worry, we have the words that bring life back into dead spirits. Never forget the words you use have power. They can bring life or death to people. It’s not because these words contain power. It’s because of Who stands behind these words. I’m not referring to flattery or fluff, that puffs a person up. I’m talking about truth, the kind that builds people back up when they realize their responsibility in a situation. Our role as Christians is to first serve other Christians, then the rest of the world. Our role is to bring God’s kingdom to this earth. How do we do that? By doing His will. What is His will? To bring peace in the midst of chaos. When we help pick people up, then help hold them up, to eventually build them up, then we bring God’s kingdom down to earth. We make God’s presence known to people. We fulfill the law, to love God, and love our neighbor as ourselves. That’s what Image Bearers do. In a world full of worry that treads down souls, our words can encourage and infuse living energy (by the Holy Spirit) back into a person, edifying their spirit. Chose your words wisely, it just may be the difference someone needs to hear today.
25 Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.
Proverbs 12:25
