Hold Onto To Things Too Tightly….

Be careful not to hold onto to things too tightly. I mean reverence things that do not deserve a large amount of respect. This earth is temporary, along with everything in it. Our attitude towards things should be respectful but not over-attention-giving. We need to respect the Giver of the gifts and not the gifts themselves. Sure we are to enjoy the gifts, but not to the point where it stands in the way of our relationships, how we treat people. When we become self-focused, and start to think we earned everything we’ve been given, we actually lose sight of reality. We lose the ability to fully love, to honor, and to give. Those that hang on to this life, don’t honor the life to come. Those who think most of the next world, make the greatest difference in this one.  It’s all about having the proper perspective. Jesus stated this truth very clearly here in today’s passage.

23 Then He said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow Me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.25 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?26 If anyone is ashamed of Me and My message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when He returns in His glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels. Luke 9:23-26
