Idolatry starts when we don’t stop, and take time to reflect. If you’re so busy that you don’t take time to meditate on and worship God, you’re only guaranteeing yourself of falling into idolatry. We were created to worship. If we don’t worship God, we will worship something else. Look around, idolatry is everywhere. Yoga this, yoga that. “Sending positive vibes/thoughts” (instead of prayers). “Don’t tell me what to do”. Look at the music and entertainment industry (look at the top 5 pop current songs). If we don’t stop and take the time to reflect based on what we know is true, we will end up worshipping what isn’t.
18 Such stupidity and ignorance!Their eyes are closed, and they cannot see.Their minds are shut, and they cannot think.19 The person who made the idol never stops to reflect, “Why, it’s just a block of wood! I burned half of it for heat and used it to bake my bread and roast my meat. How can the rest of it be a god?Should I bow down to worship a piece of wood?”20 The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts something that can’t help him at all.Yet he cannot bring himself to ask,“Is this idol that I’m holding in my hand a lie?”
