The difference between a saved and sanctified believer and one who says he believes is one and one thing only: a saved believer honors the Bible as God’s infallible word, and a nominal Christian questions it’s validity. Once God’s word is accepted, we are granted understanding. Sometimes that understanding is shallow, but it’s still enough to get us through the trial. For those who question God’s word, or deny it’s accuracy or validity, do so out of unbelief. If we are honest with ourselves, we have to admit, when God’s Spirit moves within us, we understand His position. The only reason people don’t believe God, is because they don’t want to accept His truth. God’s word continues to work in those who believe. Trust Him and take Him at His word. God’s power doesn’t change (increase or decrease) because of a person’s unbelief, it just empowers the one who does believe.
13 Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received His message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God–which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13
