The one consistent, determining act I see that solidifies my belief and trust in God’s sovereignty is a changed heart in those who believe. What the world cannot see (mainly because it doesn’t want too see) is the crystal clear evidence of a changed life. I’m not saying a perfect life, just one that clearly demonstrates transformation, is proof enough that God exists. He uses people to carry out His will, and only He can transform a stony heart into one that demonstrates true, authentic love. All people want to receive that kind of love, but are not able to give it, due to their stony heart. Worldly love is a one-way, self-demanding kind of practice. True love is a self-giving, two-way relationship that seeks the best for its recipient. True love can only come from its Source, and only from a fully functioning heart of flesh.
19 And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart,20 so they will obey My decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be My people, and I will be their God.
