Is God a Killjoy?

When people say God is a killjoy, a tyrant wanting to rob people of their pursuit of happiness, I’ll answer them with, “you’re obviously not talking about the God of the Bible, are you?” The God of the Bible is patient and kind, and His love for us extends well beyond our ability to fully comprehend. You see love is a choice. You either do or don’t. God’s Love for us is so great, even to the rebel God grants his desires in the end. And even though it’s not what God wants from us, He gives the rebellious heart exactly what it craves for in the end, an eternal existence without Him (Hell). It also shows that suffering always opens our eyes to reality. The reality that God is in charge. It’s sad that people don’t get this concept, but it’s proof of His love for us. Why aren’t people talking about this?

25 I gave them over to worthless decrees and regulations that would not lead to life. 26 I let them pollute themselves with the very gifts I had given them, and I allowed them to give their firstborn children as offerings to their gods–so I might devastate them and remind them that I alone am the Lord.
