Worldliness is the love for passing things. It’s when we set our affections on worldly things. The human heart can never find happiness or satisfaction with things. The flesh is antagonistic to the spirit. The world is a system that man has set up to make himself happy without Christ. Christ is not welcomed here. Without Christ, worldliness is temporary, and will soon fade away. Loving possessions, means the most important part of your life is wasted pursuing decaying things that won’t make it into eternity. Why not focus our time on things that will last forever? God’s word and the souls of people should be our focus, they are eternal.
15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
