Seeing God as the “first great cause” makes life easier to finish what you start. It gives us purpose and significance knowing we are participants of His will. We are the object of His love and when things happen to us, (good or bad) they are for our benefit (to grow in the sanctification process) or to benefit others (sometimes eternally). Knowing this brings great security and comfort to believers and true seekers. Knowing your days are numbered gives us a sense of urgency to do the important things and not sweat the small stuff.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out Before a single day had passed.
Psalms 139:15-16
