The more we get the more it pulls us away from what’s important. Look around... how many people that you know or see that has lots of money, are truly devoted to God and His agenda? I’ve lived almost a half of century and I can honestly say I have not seen many that possess great wealth be humble and totally sold out to God. Few, if any. Jesus did say you can’t serve both God and money for a reason. Having means gives us the ability to say “NO” to God.
1 How prosperous Israel is–a luxuriant vine loaded with fruit. But the richer the people get,the more pagan altars they build. The more bountiful their harvests, the more beautiful their sacred pillars.
Hosea 10:1
