When you read of the blessings for obedience and the punishments for disobedience by God in Leviticus chapter 25, I can’t help but think of this one thing. When we are right with God, He gives us the ability to live and sleep with no cause for fear. When we are not right with God, fear drives every aspect of our lives. Think about how in America today fear drives many people’s lives. The insurance industry exists on fear losing our possessions. The medical industry thrives on fear of getting or being sick or dying. The advertising industry lives off making us discontent with our possessions or the fear of missing out (FOMO). Social media thrives fear of hurting others’ feelings. How about the fear of getting caught when we do something wrong. And of course our Political system lives on the fear of being politically correct. If we stand up for a cause that the Bible says is wrong, we have to deal with the attack on our reputation (fear of not being liked). Fear drives America on a daily basis. But when we are right with God, and we trust Him with our lives, that same fear that drives almost every aspect in America, seems to lose its powerful control of our minds and actions. What a gift!!! It all has to do with being right with God. Perfect love drives out fear.
6 “I will give you peace in the land, and you will be able to sleep with no cause for fear. I will rid the land of wild animals and keep your enemies out of your land.
