Have you ever had smoke get in your eyes? Every time we camp when the fire is burning and it’s cold outside, you tend to draw near the fire for warmth. Inevitably, the closer you get smoke finds it’s way to your eyes. You close them to prevent any more from entering, but it only makes the irritation worse. You rub your eyes hoping to relieve your severely irritated eyes, but only time allows the effects to wear off. The same is true of lazy people. Their laziness irritates an employer. And no matter what the employer does, it doesn’t relieve the painful effects the lazy employee has on the company. The only relief the employer gets is when the lazy employee is gone. The moral to this proverb is laziness has recognizable patterns, and being aware of them, ensures you never allow your own lazy habits to take over your life.
26 Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes.
Proverbs 10:26
