Knowing Your Future...

If you could see the future and the outcome of events, would that change the way you lived? Knowing things worked out or failed, would give you a different mind-set, wouldn’t it? Here Joshua is given that insight by God Himself. He is told by God to be courageous and strong. As long as he followed the instructions Moses gave him, he was promised to prosper and succeed at everything he did. Don’t we have that same promise? Didn’t Jesus tell His disciples that in Matthew chapter 6? “And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Just like Joshua, we have been given the same foresight, encouraged and strengthened by God’s word to live knowing God has our back. This should change our attitudes. It should give us confidence everyday, knowing the outcome of our lives. The greatest thing about it is that we don’t know the details. This keeps us on our toes, knowing we will get through but not knowing the details, gives us confidence to move forward and yet keep us from becoming arrogant because we need God to run the show (having to depend on God for the outcome). It’s like going into a game knowing you will win, but you don’t know the “how” or the details. That way you still enjoy the game and have a wonder about it during the process. God has a way that keeps us dependent on Him, but gives us the freedom and confidence to live without removing our freewill. There are a lot of people that don’t see or get this about the Christian faith. They miss out on the blessings God brings every day. When you start seeing your life as God walking with you, knowing that He has our back, it changes your perspective. It helps you become free, and allows you to strive for excellence. It gives you a deeper insight by knowing the outcome will be for your best. It gives you confidence in facing the unknown. It guarantees your hand will be held, as you walk through this life with the One Who created it.

8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is My command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9
