I’ve always believed when you do the right thing you will always be rewarded. That reward comes in all kinds of forms: praise, satisfaction, contentment, peace, deeper relationships, to name a few. When you go back on your word, or “backslide” on a commitment, you expose your true character and thus get what you deserve: shallow relationships, gossip or slander, dissatisfaction, discontentment, and no peace, to name a few. If you’re striving to become a better, deeper person of character, it’s clear which path is the one you should take.
14 Backsliders get what they deserve; good people receive their reward.
Proverbs 14:14
