This proverb has so much more to it than meets the eye. It’s the core of being a believer. The riches, honor, and long life have more depth than most will ever see. It may refer to physical riches, but that would be a shallow perspective. The spiritual riches far outweigh any amount of tangible, monetary accumulation you could ever achieve. Just think, when you fear the Lord in true humility, you prepare yourself for whatever comes your way. You trust God, siding with Him, willing to accept that day’s happenings, knowing you are serving a purpose. Your significance comes from knowing your place in His will, and that makes dealing with life a lot easier (not easy but easier). It gives us reason to fight the good fight, and continue in our faith. The riches that come from pursuing God with a humble heart far outweigh anything the world could ever offer. Trust me on this one.
4 True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.
