God hates divorce. There has been no greater tragedy in the world today than when a family decides to separate. The evidence of the turmoil, confusion, and devastation divorce has on a family, is well documented. The insecurity, destruction of the ability to trust, and the acted out behaviors of its participants is clear evidence of God’s hatred towards divorce. It destroys the one institution God established to carry out His plan of redemption (sorry to break this news to you, but it’s not the government). And yet we don’t even bat an eye when we see it happen. It saddens me every time I hear about another couple being affected by it. If the world wants to thrive, it must realize what God established (the family) is to be taken seriously, as if our life depends on it. When you think about it, not only our lives depend on it, but every generation that follows will have the irreplaceable scars from our poor decision not the adhere to this truth. God hates divorce, and so should we; the evidence is crystal clear.
10 But for those who are married, I have a command that comes not from me, but from the Lord. A wife must not leave her husband. 11 But if she does leave him, let her remain single or else be reconciled to him. And the husband must not leave his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11
