If God is such a tyrant or a killjoy as many haters declare, then why does He offer forgiveness? Why not eliminate all evil at once? If He kept a record of our sins, who would be worthy? God’s grace prompts us towards repentance. It helps us reverence Him (a healthy fear). If God wants everything His way, then why does He want our participation? It’s because He wants us to know Him. He wants us to relate to Him. Does that sound like the God all the haters are describing these days?
3 Lord, if You kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? 4 But You offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear You.
Psalms 130:3-4
4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
Romans 2:4
