What unbelievers mistake God’s absence for His non-existence or apathy towards us, for believers is His patience giving us time to repent and be saved. Just because God doesn’t act in our time frame doesn’t mean He doesn’t care, or is not real. The believer’s eyes have been opened, we see with spiritual eyes, which the world cannot see. Unanswered prayer is not evidence against God’s existence, it’s proof of His patience. What we deem necessary for God to do in order to give us what we want, isn’t always what we truly need. I read a story of a woman who was in great turmoil, experiencing severe pain, nothing she brought on herself. She started experiencing great abdominal pain. At the hospital, they ran test after test but couldn’t figure out what the issue was. She was given high doses of pain medication but none of it worked. The pain grew more intense with each passing day. After 4 days in the hospital, a new doctor ran one last test, he discovered that her large intestine had torn off the abdominal wall and was completely blocked. They had to remove the majority of her large intestine. She survived. When the doctor came and told her about the procedure, he explained that this was extremely rare coming from a non-injury type of occurrence. If the pain that she (and many others) prayed for had subsided with the medication, she would’ve been set home the first day and she would’ve died. You see, pain isn’t always a bad thing. And God’s patience with us is always a good thing. It gives us time to figure out what’s wrong, and prescribe proper treatment. Don’t ever allow the world to dictate truth, or God’s ways. His patience is for our good, no matter what excuse the world gives you.
8 But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. 9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
2 Peter 3:8-9
14 And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in His sight.15 And remember, the Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him
2 Peter 3:14-15
