Death is a scary thing, especially to those who don’t know God. For those that do, God grants them hope and peace in knowing it’s just a process from the body separating from its spirit. The best part is that God sends people to help you through the process. I’ve always thought one of the greatest blessings is for a man to be surrounded by his family and closest friends the day death comes knocking. God blessed Jacob with this very thing. The son he thought he lost, was at his side the day he gave up his spirit. God is good, even in death. What awaits on the other side won’t compare, and makes the transition seem trivial.
3 “I am God, the God of your father,” the voice said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation. 4 I will go with you down to Egypt, and I will bring you back again. But you will die in Egypt with Joseph attending to you.”
Genesis 46:3-4
29 Joseph prepared his chariot and traveled to Goshen to meet his father, Jacob. When Joseph arrived, he embraced his father and wept, holding him for a long time. 30 Finally, Jacob said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen your face again and know you are still alive.”
Genesis 46:29-30
