ONE-OF-A-KIND GOD…..

Can you imagine your dog biting you as you feed it? Or your child rebelling against you to the point of suing you unjustly? Or a friend selling you out for another? Or your spouse leaving you to be with another? When I read these verses describing the harsh treatment Jesus received during His trial and crucifixion, I can’t help but feel the injustice. To think that the creature, spit in the face of its Creator, and He allowed it. When the creature turns on the Creator, it shows the unfathomable love God has for us to hold back His power to stop it or retaliate. This humility is the exact same humility God wants from us. Why? Because it demonstrates what He did for us. When people see this kind of behavior, they don’t understand. It’s foreign to them, other worldly. It gives them a glimpse of what God is like. And thus touches their soul. How they react is up to them. Every time someone denies God, blows Him off, or acts out of rebellion toward Him, He relives this exact same type of treatment He received on the cross all over again. Treating God this way is terrible. But fortunately for us, His reaction is other-worldly, filled with love. We serve a ONE-OF-A-KIND GOD. And one day, Justice will be served.

27 Some of the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into their headquarters and called out the entire regiment. 28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on His head, and they placed a reed stick in His right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before Him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!” 30 And they spit on Him and grabbed the stick and struck Him on the head with it. 31 When they were finally tired of mocking Him, they took off the robe and put His own clothes on Him again. Then they led Him away to be crucified. Matthew 27:27-31
