One of my favorite scripture verses comes from 1 Samuel 2 verse 30. It’s a truth that is undeniable. When we honor God in word and in deed, God honors us. It may not be monetarily, but it will be priceless. The greatest gift God will ever give human beings is Himself; His presence. In the case of Eli the priest and his family, God took their lives because of their evil practices. Eli’s lack of discipline with his own sons cost them their lives. Samuel, on the other hand, did what was right in the Lord’s sight, and was rewarded with a very powerful and effective witness for God. The same is true today. Those that honor God, especially those who live in our “Post-Christian” society, will be honored by Him. I’m living proof. Honor God today by getting into His Word, sharing the gospel with someone, and relating with Him through conversation and prayer. When you do this, you’ll find the cares and worries of this world won’t be so bothersome, because you trust the One Who’s really in control. Those that honor God will be honored by Him.
30 “Therefore, the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi would always be My priests. But I will honor those who honor Me, and I will despise those who think lightly of Me.
1 Samuel 2:30
