Selling Yourself To Evil…..

Selling yourself to evil. What does that mean? Elijah said it to King Ahab after his wife Jezebel had Naboth murdered in order to get his plot of land for the King. The Bible never tells us what it means. It just tells us that no one else so completely sold Himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel (1 Kings 21:25). For it to say this, it must mean that Ahab did what Ahab wanted. He didn’t have any reverence for God. And even though he repented, his fate was already sealed. Do you ever find yourself so caught up in your own selfishness that God seems distant? It’s so easy to allow yourself to get caught up in the here and now that you forget what’s important. The greatest priority is to have God as your priority. It keeps all other priorities in line. The only thing I know about myself is no matter how selfish or self-centered I can become, it isn’t worth the damage it does. May God never allow us to sell ourselves to evil. The price is too high.

20 “So, my enemy, you have found me!” Ahab exclaimed to Elijah.“Yes,” Elijah answered, “I have come because you have sold yourself to what is evil in the Lord’s sight. 1 Kings 21:20 25 (No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel. 26 His worst outrage was worshiping idols just as the Amorites had done–the people whom the Lord had driven out from the land ahead of the Israelites.) 1 Kings 21:25-26
