Pregnancy, what a mysterious phenomenon. We now know more than we’ve ever known before about it, but there’s still so much we don’t know. Jesus knew about the joy a mother experiences when she holds her baby in her arms for the first time. All the moods swings, midnight cravings, swelling, wonder, fears, and pain involved in the maternity journey, doesn’t compare to the satisfaction and relief that comes when holding that little life in her arms after delivery. It will be the same way when a sinner comes to Christ. Knowing that being a Christian will be filled with persecution, ridicule, suffering for doing what’s right, won’t compare to the satisfaction and joy one will receive when we stand face to face with Jesus in Heaven. Receiving the Holy Spirit is a deposit, a guarantee, that this will happen. If you’ve received the Holy Spirit, then you are guaranteed salvation. Knowing this gives you hope to carry on. Live with the anticipation of “holding Jesus in your arms”, and He will get you through the ups and downs of this life. When you have the Holy Spirit, you have life. Live it abundantly.
I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to Me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful joy.21 It will be like a woman suffering the pains of labor. When her child is born, her anguish gives way to joy because she has brought a new baby into the world.22 So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.2
