I’m sure this can stir up controversy, but if you truly examine the scriptures, you’ll find this to be true. God loves a joyful giver. When we give from a grateful heart, the Lord rejoices. When we give out of obligation, the Lord isn’t pleased. Giving should come from a heart full of gratitude and never out of duty. Yes, we are to pay the government taxes, but give freely to the Lord from a joyful heart. He doesn’t want or need our money to begin with. What He’s more concerned about is the attitude of our heart more so than the amount of money in our hands.
9 The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord, and King David was filled with joy.

17 I know, my God, that You examine our hearts and rejoice when You find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched Your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously.
