Have you ever thought about life? I mean deeply thought about how nothing is new. Water fills the sea only to be brought back to the river to flow back into the sea again. People revolt, over throw governments, disease, sickness, detrimental storms. It’s all happened before, there’s nothing new. People experience these things for the first time, so it’s new to them, but to the earth and God, it’s not new. The sad part is that people don’t remember the atrocities brought about by evil, selfish desires, so they end up repeating them. It’s a vicious cycle, especially for those that have a short memory. For those without a bond with the truth it’s even shorter. Why do we long to own things? Why do we throw our hard-earned money at things that will eventually be thrown away or belong to someone else? Our only true pursuit should be on things that last, things that have eternal value (for they are worthy of our time and effort). So the next time you watch the news and witness something that seems tragic, remember, there’s nothing new to God; He’s seen it all, and more importantly, He’s in control and knows how to handle it.
The sun rises and the sun sets, then hurries around to rise again. 6 The wind blows south, and then turns north. Around and around it goes, blowing in circles. 7 Rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows out again to the sea.
Ecclesiastes 1:5-7
No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. 10 Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new. 11 We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.
Ecclesiastes 1:8c-11
