There are two kinds of people in this world: those that love flattery and those that appreciate honest criticism. Flattery puffs up; giving a false sense of confidence. Honest criticism, on the other hand, humbles us, giving us time to evaluate and make necessary changes. In the end honest criticism does more for us in keeping us grounded (or bringing us back down to earth), than flattery could ever do. God uses us when we empty ourselves of ourselves. This makes room for His Spirit to fill us up. The last thing we need is a false sense of security; this leaves no room for God. Our security is only in Him, Godfidence.
23 In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery.
