Who do you fear more, God or man? Your answer will determine the trajectory of your life. It will give you answers to your problems. It will show you the “whys” to your every day issues. When I mention fear, I’m talking about reverence. I’m talking about respect. I’m talking about knowing our place. I’m talking about how we view Authority, and perceive Who has the power to save or condemn. Once you determine “Whom” it is you fear, your path becomes a little more clear. Until your fear of God surpasses your fear of man, your motives will be a distortion of reality. You’ll find yourself living a pseudo-lifestyle; chasing after the wind, trying to be liked or respected by fallible people, or trying to find security in random, immoral lifestyles. Our loyalties, responsibilities, and devotion belong only in one place. When we get it right (placed all on God), we begin to live right. Being right with God is the first and foremost step we must take in truly living life. We need to put fear in it’s only proper place. Then it will serve its purpose in humbling us, revering God, and not holding us captive to our own deceptive thoughts and feelings.
25 Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
Proverbs 29:25
