One mistake we all make is forgetting that all of this is temporary. Our home is with God. Our home is in Heaven. We are only here for a short while. Our duty is to know God and make Him known. Our significance comes from the process of doing this. When we look to this world for our reward, we never get the satisfaction we think it should deliver. We were made for so much more, more than the boundaries of time can hold. It’s only when we learn to live with eternity in mind that we realize this earth is not our home. And everything in it can only satisfy a temporary, external need. Nothing can fulfill our spirits like God does.... nothing on earth can make a dent in our pursuit of significance. It only comes from God. It’s taken a long time for me to understand this. I still struggle with it at times. But in the bigger picture of eternity, I find myself always coming back to the truth. Never allow your feelings and thoughts to cloud your theology. We must always act on what we know to be true. God spells it out for us in the Bible. One more reason to be in it daily. The temporary things of this world might be our rewards for little things, but they fail in comparison to that which is reserved in Heaven for our work done with a sincere heart and Eternity in our foresight. We are not home yet....
14 By the power of Your hand, O Lord, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of Your treasured ones.May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.15 Because I am righteous, I will see You.When I awake, I will see You face to face and be satisfied.
Psalms 17:14-15
