Before You Climb Onto Your High Horse…

If you truly want to see what the sinful side of man’s nature really looks like, read today’s scripture (below). To think that God’s creation, which He intended to be good, turned out to do this kind of treatment to Him, shows a clear representation of man’s true inner self. Before you climb onto your high horse, just think, you have this same kind of capacity inside of you. When you get prideful, or get your feelings hurt, you think and sometimes show this kind of contempt towards others (His creation). When you think, “I’m glad I’m not like this or that person”, it’s you’re pride, or as it should be called “sinful nature”. When you get offended so easily, it’s your sinful nature responding. Any time you step into God’s role, and we do it all the time, we are acting just like these Roman soldiers. So next time you think, “I’m not like that”, pinch yourself, because you are just like that. It’s just a matter of degrees. This is a humbling thought isn’t it? Something, once you know, you never allow yourself to forget. It’s what allows room for God to work in your life. It’s the humility God always talks about.

27 Some of the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into their headquarters and called out the entire regiment. 28 They stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on His head, and they placed a reed stick in His right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before Him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!” 30 And they spit on Him and grabbed the stick and struck Him on the head with it. 31 When they were finally tired of mocking Him, they took off the robe and put His own clothes on Him again. Then they led Him away to be crucified. Matthew 27:27-31
