Willingly Unwilling….

The irony in the Bible could not have been written by Human beings. It’s too far above our thinking. When the religious leaders went to Pilate to ask him to seal Jesus’ tomb, to prevent His prediction of rising from the dead on the third day, their words could not have been more ironic. To think, they were trying to prevent, what in their minds was impossible, the very thing they believed the Messiah would do some day. And then to state that if this resurrection, or the perceived resurrection would make them worse off than before, is just irony at its finest. It’s like they were saying, “please help us prevent the very thing we believe will happen, from happening”. See what I mean? When selfishness comes around at full blast, prepare yourself for confusion. It blinds us from seeing spiritually. And prevents us from knowing we are doing God’s will, willingly unwilling.

The next day, on the Sabbath, the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate. 63 They told him, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while He was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise from the dead.’ 64 So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day. This will prevent His disciples from coming and stealing His body and then telling everyone He was raised from the dead! If that happens, we’ll be worse off than we were at first.”65 Pilate replied, “Take guards and secure it the best you can.” 66 So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it. Matthew 27:62-66
