Reading through Leviticus can be exciting for the scholar or historian, but for the rest of us it can be a long, drawn out read/study. I’m not saying, in any way, it’s not important, I’m just saying all the details can be a bit overwhelming. Most of these details are no longer applicable to those that follow Christ Jesus. With that said, when I read all the details of the procedures for cleansing of healed lepers or skin-diseased people, one thing stood out: God knows every thing about every single one of us. He knows our thoughts, our financial status, and our commitment to Him, to name a few. And the best news is that He is just and fair to all of us. If a healed leper or any skin-diseased person was healed, there was a stringent, detailed procedure they had to go through in order to become ceremonially clean. Lambs, birds, flour, and olive oil were all part the requirements. If the person couldn’t afford lambs, God allowed birds as a substitute. And even the birds were allocated to the levels of affordability. God cares for us so much, He even takes our financial status into play. What God in the history of planet earth has ever done that? None, because there’s only One, True God. And He is just and fair.
32 These are the instructions for purification for those who have recovered from a serious skin disease but who cannot afford to bring the offerings normally required for the ceremony of purification.”
