We live in a society that doesn’t show much regard for truth. Very few people are okay with taking advice these days. Any action in which someone attempts to help by giving another advice is taken as criticism, or being judgmental. People need to learn how to decipher truth in advice/critique versus opinions. People need to grow up and not be so defensive when it comes to hot button topics. Having a little thick skin has always proven beneficial when it comes to patient endurance, just don’t allow pride to thicken it to the point of insensitivity. What most people miss in these conversations (and they are fewer and fewer of them these days), is that wisdom is life-giving. It’s like a fresh spring of water waiting for you right in the middle of a long desert hike. Those that see it this way, avoid having to learn some life-altering lessons the hard way. It’s humbling, but it’s the honest way of dealing with people (and yourself). Maybe God is trying to tell us something, and He is using an unlikely person to deliver the message. Learn to decipher truth in conversation, it will help you mature in your walk with the Lord. For He is where we draw our true significance from.
14 The instruction of the wise is like a life-giving fountain; those who accept it avoid the snares of death.
