Sometimes when God seems distant it’s our own doing. Other times God seems distant might be because God chooses to withdraw in order to test our hearts. It’s a time to see what we are really made of. A time to see if we are truly applying what we’ve learned about ourselves and aligning it with the way we should be living it out. The most important part of God distancing Himself from us (if you really want to call it that), is not for God to see what we are made of, rather it’s for us to see what we are made of. God already knows our hearts, and so He does this “social distancing” in order for us to realize where we are on this “sanctification journey”. When you humble yourself and accept this truth, you’ll realize that we need God more and more every day for survival to flourishing. Every good and perfect gift comes from God. So that means we need Him in the good times as well as the bad. Make sense? Never allow yourself to think you don’t need God. You’ll only be lying to yourself. And that’s the worst kind of lie you can ever tell.
31 However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart.
