When we witness to others, we can’t allow ourselves to get caught up in the arguments for or against Jesus being the Son of God. We just need to stick to the Gospel. Our influence will either condemn people or contribute to the salvation process. I call witnessing to seemingly, unresponsive souls “planting a tree that’s shade we may never sit under”. We never know the eternal destiny of a human soul. With that same concept, people will either be saved or die unsaved. Not knowing is a blessing. You ask, how? Not knowing someone’s eternal destiny keeps us hopeful. It keeps us willing to share the Good News with everyone. It keeps us looking at people with hope. If we knew the eternal destiny of a soul, we would stop sharing the good news, lose hope for that person, and probably get depressed. Charles Spurgeon the Great English preacher once said, “If God put a white stripe on every believer’s back, I’d be chasing people down and pulling up their shirts to see who needed to hear the Gospel” (my paraphrase). Could you imagine doing that? God knows what He’s doing. We have to trust Him. When we do, we are filled with hope even when things seem a little disheartening. Keep on drawing near to God. And keep sharing the Good News of the Gospel with others, one soul at a time.
44 The following week almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord. 45 But when some of the Jews saw the crowds, they were jealous; so they slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said.46 Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, “It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles. 47 For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made You a light to the Gentiles,to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’” 48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were chosen for eternal life became believers. 49 So the Lord’s message spread throughout that region.
