The OT is full of insights into God’s character. Here’s one that tells us exactly what He wants from us. God’s love for His creation (people) is clearly displayed here. His desire for us to be close to Him and put into practice His character qualities by making them our own, couldn’t be easier to see. Our dependence on God is directly proportional to our closeness to Him. If we make it our top priority to pursue Him, our lives will prosper. It’s just how it works. It may not always be perfume and roses, but His presence, our closeness, will be the reward that never disappoints. Make it your life goal to be close to God, you’ll find true peace and rest for your soul, that no one can take away. The Bible is a treasure trove and a gateway into the heart of God. Don’t neglect it.
6 So now, come back to your God. Act with love and justice, and always depend on Him.
Hosea 12:6
