When people tell me that God is an egotistical, genocidal tyrant, I think to myself, “they aren’t talking about the God of the Bible, because I know He’s exactly like the Bible describes Him. They’re talking about a god they do not know, one they’ve made up in their minds to suit their own needs, because they’ve never taken the time to know Him”. To them, God is the scapegoat when things go wrong, and a passive grandpa when times are good. If only people had the drive to actually try to know Him. It’s rather easy, but it takes an honest heart and a disciplined mind. Great treasures await those that follow this pursuit. If you read the Bible, OT and NT, you’ll find what God is really like. And when you surrender your life to Him in faith in Jesus, He will open your eyes to Who He really is, a loving, all-powerful Being, seeking His best for our good. Read today’s scripture, then ask yourself, “does this sound like the statement made at the beginning of today’s entry”?
6 I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know Me more than I want burnt offerings.7 But like Adam, you broke My covenant and betrayed My trust.
Hosea 6:6-7
