How often do we demand a sign from God? Like the Pharisees, we too are human. But unlike the Pharisees we don’t deny the truth. Faith doesn’t demand a sign. Faith interprets the signs already there. Another reason to document your journey of faith.
1 One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that He show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove His authority.2 He replied, “You know the saying, ‘Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow; 3 red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times! 4 Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign, but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.” Then Jesus left them and went away.

Work Out: A Daily Process...
Most Christians think salvation is a one time event. “Once saved, always saved”, you’ve heard it s million times. It may be true, but there’s so much more to it. Paul says, “work out” our salvation. Our walk with God, the sanctification process is a daily process. Hearing the Gospel isn’t only for non-believers. It’s for us as well. It’s a reminder that while we are saints, we are still sinners at the same time. This is very humbling, placing us in the same category as those that don’t know God, those that commit atrocious crimes. We must never forget the ground at the foot of the cross is level; which means there are no “better or worse” people. We are all sinners, with the potential to displease God. That’s why we are to draw on His strength and power to get through whatever the day has to offer. And at the end of it, we give thanks for His kindness and care He provides. The true nature of man fights against God; it’s only through His power that we can be made right with Him. Now that’s Good News.
Only fools say in their hearts,“There is no God.”They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;not one of them does good! 2 The Lord looks down from heavenon the entire human race;He looks to see if anyone is truly wise,if anyone seeks God.3 But no, all have turned away;all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! 4 Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like breadand wouldn’t think of praying to the Lord.5 Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey Him.6 The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the Lord will protect His people. 7 Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the Lord restores His people,Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice. Psalms 14

Above All Else...
What you allow into your heart eventually comes out. It’s already tainted from birth. The sanctification process is one of restoration. We don’t need to impede the process. Guard it well.
23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23
15 Then Peter said to Jesus, “Explain to us the parable that says people aren’t defiled by what they eat.”16 “Don’t you understand yet?” Jesus asked. 17 “Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.18 But the words you speak come from the heart–that’s what defiles you.19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.20 These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.” Matthew 15:15-20

There’s No More Secure Feeling Than...
This psalm is perfect for those in conflict or despair. It reminds us of how much God is in control. He sees every person and knows their deeds. He will punish those who do evil. And for those who pursue God relentlessly, they will see His face. What a comfort! There’s no more secure feeling than knowing God is in control, and you are on His side. Our reward is His presence.
I trust in the Lord for protection. So why do you say to me,“Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety!2 The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right.3 The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?” 4 But the Lord is in His holy Temple;the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth.5 The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence.6 He will rain down blazing coals and burning sulfur on the wicked, punishing them with scorching winds.7 For the righteous Lord loves justice. The virtuous will see His face.

Alone Time...
It’s natural to want to be alone when you’re sad or depressed. It helps distance yourself from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s a time to plead with God in prayer. Without distractions, you can focus on the issue and tune into God’s frequency. The only caveat to this isolation is not to be there too long. Allow God to comfort and console you, then get back into life. Too much isolation can be detrimental. Plus, returning from the isolation, God will send people to help you through the situation. It’s His way of being present in your life, it’s His response, a tangible answer to your prayers. Welcome the time to be alone. Grow closer to God. Align your spirit with His, allow it to be recharged. Then rejoin your normal activities and look for God to provide solace through some of His people. We are His Hands and Feet.
As soon as Jesus heard the news, He left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. Matthew 14:13a

A Parent Sold Out to Jesus...
When a parent follows the Lord and is sold out to Jesus, his children will do right by learning from him. Wisdom and good judgement can’t be better taught than by a parent who lives by them.
1 My children, listen when your father corrects you.Pay attention and learn good judgment,2 for I am giving you good guidance.Don’t turn away from my instructions.3 For I, too, was once my father’s son, tenderly loved as my mother’s only child. 4 My father taught me,“Take my words to heart.Follow my commands, and you will live.5 Get wisdom; develop good judgment.Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.6 Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you.Love her, and she will guard you. Inside the Mind of Evil...
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get inside the head of an evil, wicked person? Or try to understand why some people do such atrocious things? Here’s a glimpse of what is going on inside the minds and hearts of an unrepentant sinner. We are not immune to this type of thinking, are we? And there’s only one reason why we don’t allow our thoughts to go there, Grace!!!
101 O Lord, why do You stand so far away? Why do You hide when I am in trouble?2 The wicked arrogantly hunt down the poor.Let them be caught in the evil they plan for others.3 For they brag about their evil desires;they praise the greedy and curse the Lord. 4 The wicked are too proud to seek God.They seem to think that God is dead.5 Yet they succeed in everything they do.They do not see Your punishment awaiting them. They sneer at all their enemies.6 They think, “Nothing bad will ever happen to us!We will be free of trouble forever!” 7 Their mouths are full of cursing, lies, and threats.Trouble and evil are on the tips of their tongues.8 They lurk in ambush in the villages, waiting to murder innocent people. They are always searching for helpless victims.9 Like lions crouched in hiding, they wait to pounce on the helpless.Like hunters they capture the helplessand drag them away in nets.10 Their helpless victims are crushed;they fall beneath the strength of the wicked.11 The wicked think, “God isn’t watching us!He has closed His eyes and won’t even see what we do!” Psalms 10:1-11

Persevering Hardship...
Joseph is a great example of persevering hardship, especially when he did nothing to deserve it. When we are driven by our convictions (of Biblical truth), we please God. That doesn’t guarantee a smooth road in life. But it does guarantee salvation in Heaven in the end. And God will be there with you throughout the journey. His blessings sometimes go unnoticed, but they are constantly there. Potiphar should’ve killed Joseph for the accusations made on him from his wife (that’s what they normally did to slaves). But Potiphar knew his wife was lying because he knew Joseph wouldn’t do such a thing. Potiphar threw him in jail to save his reputation. I’m sure Potiphar regretted it the rest of his life. This is just another example of God’s grace working behind the scenes in the lives of those that call Him “Lord”. God honors those that honor Him (1Sam 2:30).
1 When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.2 The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. 3 Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. 4 This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned. 5 From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished. 6 So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing–except what kind of food to eat!Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, 7 and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded.8 But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. 9 No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”10 She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible. 11 One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work. 12 She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, “Come on, sleep with me!” Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.13 When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled, 14 she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running. “Look!” she said. “My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed. 15 When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.”16 She kept the cloak with her until her husband came home. 17 Then she told him her story. “That Hebrew slave you’ve brought into our house tried to come in and fool around with me,” she said. 18 “But when I screamed, he ran outside, leaving his cloak with me!” Genesis 39:1-18

Saints and Sinners Co-Existing...
God’s Grace is unfathomable. The second we get a grasp on it, it reveals more depth and leaves us in awe of Him. People always wonder why God allows evil people to live and do atrocious things. First off, if He removed all the evil people in the world, there wouldn’t be anyone left. We are all sinners. The reason He allows us to live is because of His Grace. Saved sinners coexist with unrepentant sinners because by removing the latter you will interfere with the former. As Jesus said, “you’ll uproot the wheat if you do”. I don’t fully grasp the reason behind this, but I do trust God to know what He’s doing. Isn’t that what faith is about?
24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away.26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’28 “ ‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed.“ ‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.29 “ ‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do.30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’ ” Matthew 13:24-30 36 Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said, “Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.”37 Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one.39 The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.40 “Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world.41 The Son of Man will send His angels, and they will remove from His Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.42 And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand! Matthew 13:36-43

The Reason for Parables...
Why did Jesus speak in parables? If you read through the 4 Gospels you discover Jesus started to speak in parables when He began to face opposition by His own people. Why cast your pearls before swine? He explains the “why” here in this passage. It’s the reason why people either understand God or fail to understand Him. Parables reveal truth to those who are sincerely interested and irritate those who are hostile to God by remaining confusing. Willful blindness, i.e. no desire to pursue God, leads to judicial blindness. Without the love of truth, there is no light of the truth. It’s like exercise and muscle function, “use it or lose it”. When our hearts aren’t real with God, when we are not actively pursuing Him, He removes all reminders of Himself from us. Think about it: if a serial killer is asked about his conscience, do you think he will answer, “I know God says not to murder, but I can’t help myself”. Of course not. Why? Because God and “doing the right thing” aren’t in his mind. God removed the truth and allowed his heart to harden. On the other hand, if someone is whole-heartedly pursuing God, and asks God for Him to help or reveal Himself to them, don’t you think God will answer their request? Certainly. The principle here is God grants us what our hearts really desire. If it’s Him, He gives more of Himself to us. If it’s anything but God, He gives you more of that while removing His presence from that person. Another example of this principle is when Jesus went back to His hometown, He performed very few miracles. Why? Because of the people’s unbelief. People need to grasp this concept and stop blaming God for giving them what they want. It’s not His fault people get into predicaments. There’s no one to blame but themselves. And the reason why He does it this way is to save the rebellious ones from further punishment due to their willful defiance. If they understand and continue to rebel, they will have a harsher punishment come judgement day. Even in people’s rebellion, God’s Grace is still being shown. Just one more facet of God’s character that goes unfounded.
10 His disciples came and asked Him, “Why do You use parables when You talk to the people?”11 He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. 12 To those who listen to My teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.13 That is why I use these parables, For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand. 14 This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, ‘When you hear what I say,you will not understand. When you see what I do,you will not comprehend.15 For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes–so their eyes cannot see,and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to Me and let Me heal them.’ 16 “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.17 I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it. Matthew 13:10-17

Stop Yourself...
If you ever find yourself envying someone else, who might not have any moral fiber to their being, stop yourself and thank God, for He has revealed His truth to you. As Jesus said, “the truth shall set you free”.
31 Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways.32 Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but He offers His friendship to the godly. 33 The Lord curses the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the upright. 34 The Lord mocks the mockers but is gracious to the humble. 35 The wise inherit honor, but fools are put to shame! The Attitude That Taints Our Witness...
In the story of Joseph and his brothers we see two areas in their lives that created constant conflict. The brother’s jealousy and Joseph’s naive confidence. The brothers hated Joseph because their father Jacob loved him more than all the other brothers. Joseph, on the other hand had integrity, but his confidence in his father’s favoritism, caused him to tattle on his brothers’ behavior. Joseph also loved to tell his brothers about his dreams. Over time this caused even more tension, culminating in his brothers selling him as a slave to Potiphar, an Egyptian. The two main points to this story are jealousy unrestrained always breeds evil behavior, and naive confidence can insight dissension among family and friends. The first needs no explanation. Jealousy is called the “green-eyed monster” for a reason. The second is addressed here. If Joseph could’ve seen his irritating behavior and changed his approach, none of this would’ve happened. We as Christians have a tendency to adopt the “I’m better off than you are” attitude. It shows in our behavior. This attitude taints the effectiveness of our witness. It retards the spreading of the Good News. Humility is what God desires from us. When we know our place, and chose to honor and serve others, humility seems to find its place in our lives and allows us to be a more effective witness. When you put God first, humility usually follows because you take a backseat and allow God to be in control. This of course doesn’t control God, it just allows you to be more of a willing participant than an opposer of His will. When He is in control, His will gets done, and we benefit. When we don’t care who gets the credit, things always work out better than if we seek the glory for ourselves.
4 But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him. Genesis 37:4
8 His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them. Genesis 37:8
10 This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. “What kind of dream is that?” he asked. “Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you?” 11 But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant. Genesis 37:10-11
26 Judah said to his brothers, “What will we gain by killing our brother? His blood would just give us a guilty conscience. 27 Instead of hurting him, let’s sell him to those Ishmaelite traders. After all, he is our brother–our own flesh and blood!” And his brothers agreed. 28 So when the Ishmaelites, who were Midianite traders, came by, Joseph’s brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to them for twenty pieces of silver. And the traders took him to Egypt. Genesis 37:26-28

The Unforgivable Sin...
What is the unforgivable sin? When Jesus talks about the sin that cannot and will never be forgiven, what is He talking about? In a nutshell, the only sin that’s not forgivable is what Jesus called, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. What exactly is this? It’s knowing the truth about Jesus, yet still refusing to accept it. Does that include people who rebel against God? Not necessarily. People rebel mainly out of ignorance of God. Ignorance is forgivable (when repented of). Paul is a good example of this. He persecuted the church out of his ignorance of God. But when he was confronted by Jesus Himself, he repented and believed. The sin that’s unforgivable is when you are confronted with the truth of who Jesus is, and you know it’s true, yet you still refuse to accept Him as being Lord (God). You can’t forgive someone when they don’t see forgiveness is necessary. They don’t admit they know the truth but yet still deny it. Jesus knew the religious leaders knew that He performed miracles, and that He was fulfilling all the prophetic scriptures in the OT. They knew He healed the sick. They knew He helped the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk, and the mute talk. They knew He raised people from the dead. They knew He was God, yet they refused to accept it. When you reject what you know to be true, you only condemn yourself. And that condemnation isn’t forgivable. When you don’t accept God for who He is, you block off the only means of redemption. You can’t be forgiven if you don’t ask. Denying what you know to be true, prevents the only One capable of forgiveness, from granting salvation to you. God holds the keys of life and death. When He pays you a visit, revealing Who He really is to you, the choice you make in response determines everything, especially where you will spend eternity. If you destroy the only bridge to salvation, faith in Christ Jesus, you have no other way of crossing the river it crosses, to be forgiven. In order to get in the movie you have to have a ticket. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit, is denying the ticket process and wanting another way in. It’s just not going to happen.
22 Then a demon-possessed man, who was blind and couldn’t speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see. 23 The crowd was amazed and asked, “Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?”24 But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, “No wonder He can cast out demons. He gets His power from Satan, the prince of demons.”25 Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. 26 And if Satan is casting out Satan, he is divided and fighting against himself. His own kingdom will not survive.27 And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said.28 But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you.29 For who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man like Satan and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger–someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.30 “Anyone who isn’t with Me opposes Me, and anyone who isn’t working with Me is actually working against Me.31 “So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven–except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.32 Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.33 “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad.34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” Matthew 12:22-37

True Discernment...
Discernment is knowing when to help and when to leave alone. This sometimes can be complicated or get confusing. Whenever you are in doubt of a situation, always, always err on the side of doing good/right. Especially when you have the power to help. Not once in the Bible did God punish someone from loving another human being or helping those in need (this does not mean we engage in sinful behavior in order to help). We must do the same, using the wisdom and abilities God has given us. The difference is knowing God’s character. It will guide you in the right path every time you are willing to take heed.
27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.28 If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say,“Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.” 29 Don’t plot harm against your neighbor, for those who live nearby trust you.30 Don’t pick a fight without reason, when no one has done you harm. Proverbs 3:27-30

Giving Your Best, First....
How often do we prepare our hearts for the Lord? I mean really prepare ourselves for His presence? How often do we go into prayer half-heartedly, hurrying through, or better yet, checking off our list of what we pray for? How often do we pray with the tv or radio on? Or when others are in the room? How often do we spend time with God while planning our day? Is that really giving God our best? Here Jacob (Israel) makes a bold decision to rid his camp of all the idols they had been carrying with them since leaving Paddan-aram. All of his clan were to purify themselves (bathe) and put on clean clothes. He was giving God his best, and teaching others to do the same. I’m not promoting the notion of being religious, not stressing ritualistic in any way. I’m just making the point of this truth: when you truly engage 100% in worship/communing with God, He reveals more of Himself to you. Isn’t that the point of pursuing Him? Communing with Him? Consecrate your heart for Him the next time you have your quiet time. See if He is true to His word. Our best is the only thing we can truly give Him, any thing less is pseudo-worship.
2 So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing. 3 We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.” Genesis 35:2-3
10 Those who know Your name trust in You,for You, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You. Psalms 9:10

Write it Down...
Whenever you have a Divine encounter, a “God Moment”, write it down, document it. It’ll be a reminder, a motivation, or a soothing memory that God was, is, and will be there with you. When we get caught up in the rat-race, we tend to lose sight of the Heavenlies. We tend to forget. God knows this. That’s why He established all the sacred festivals, and rituals; to remind the people of His presence and great wonders He performed with them. Here, Jacob set a stone pillar to mark the spot/occasion where God spoke to him. Any time Jacob was in need of rescue, had a deep sense of gratitude, or any other type of emotion he tried to deal with, he would look back to this place as a reminder God is with Him. We need to do the same.
14 Jacob set up a stone pillar to mark the place where God had spoken to him. Then he poured wine over it as an offering to God and anointed the pillar with olive oil. 15 And Jacob named the place Bethel (which means “house of God”), because God had spoken to him there. Genesis 35:14-15

Hope of All the World...
When people lose hope it’s tragic. Being distraught, not having a glimpse of being rescued, can paralyze a person. There’s no magic pill you can take, but there is a person you can go to that will give you a new hope, one that will last, and one that no one can ever take away. Here in Matthew 12 we read a quote from Isaiah being referenced, foreshadowing Jesus. The name most people despise, is actually the name that is the Hope of all the world.
But Jesus knew what they were planning. So He left that area, and many people followed Him. He healed all the sick among them,16 but He warned them not to reveal who He was. 17 This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning Him: 18 “Look at My Servant, whom I have chosen. He is My Beloved, who pleases Me.I will put My Spirit upon Him,and He will proclaim justice to the nations.19 He will not fight or shout or raise His voice in public.20 He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally He will cause justice to be victorious.21 And His name will be the hope of all the world.” Matthew 12:15-21

Lord of the Sabbath....
One more example of Jesus’ claim to be God. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. These words came from the Maker of the Sabbath. Why do we still struggle with this concept?
1 At about that time Jesus was walking through some grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they began breaking off some heads of grain and eating them. 2 But some Pharisees saw them do it and protested, “Look, Your disciples are breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath.”3 Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He went into the house of God, and he and his companions broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat.5 And haven’t you read in the law of Moses that the priests on duty in the Temple may work on the Sabbath?6 I tell you, there is One here who is even greater than the Temple!7 But you would not have condemned My innocent disciples if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ 8 For the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!” Matthew 12:1-8

True Security...
People search far and wide for security. They look for it in the pursuit of money, relationships, power, fame, possessions, time, and places, only to find a false sense of it. This pseudo-security people find only lasts a short while. Temporary things cannot bring real security. Why? Because they are temporary. The only security you’ll ever find that lasts, can only be found in the One Who’s eternal and doesn’t change. When you trust God, whole-heartedly, with any situation, He will become your security. And this security will last, because He is eternal.
21 My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment.Hang on to them,22 for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace.23 They keep you safe on your way,and your feet will not stumble.24 You can go to bed without fear;you will lie down and sleep soundly.25 You need not be afraid of sudden disasteror the destruction that comes upon the wicked,26 for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Lifting Your Spirit...
The next time you’re feeling down or sick, lift up your face towards the Heavens and let out a loud praise to God. Think of what God has done for you: given life, love, friendships; provided food, money, and security. He’s even given you your very next breath. A miraculous thing will begin to happen. Joy will start to crowd out those depressing feelings, because it becomes personal. The Bible clearly shows us that praising God brings joy.
1 I will praise You, Lord, with all my heart;I will tell of all the marvelous things You have done.2 I will be filled with joy because of You. I will sing praises to Your name, O Most High. Psalms 9:1-2

It’s Much Easier to Oppose...
No matter how hard people try to oppose the kingdom of God, no amount of violence will ever over come it. I love John MacArthur’s translation of this verse: “The kingdom presses ahead relentlessly, and only the relentless press their way into it.” It’s much easier to oppose the Gospel, than it is to be welcomed in. It’s a commitment fewer and fewer are willing to make. But in the end, it’s the only option for those whose hearts are fully committed to truth and love.
11 “I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is!12 And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it.13 For before John came, all the prophets and the law of Moses looked forward to this present time.14 And if you are willing to accept what I say, he is Elijah, the one the prophets said would come.15 Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand! A Purposeful, Meaningful Life...
Here is what most people in life miss out on. Jesus is a “Fuddy-Duddy”, “He takes the fun out of life”, they say. But what do people do when the fun ends? When they return from Las Vegas and the consequences followed them home? When they find out they have cancer? When their spouse leaves them? When a child dies? When life happens? Jesus said it Himself, “He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life”....”aside from Me you can do nothing” (unless we stay connected to Him -the Vine). The truth is “Life is Hard”, and I’d rather live it, walking side-by-side, hand-in-hand with the Author of life, than trying to figure it out on my own. Yes, there are guidelines and restrictions, but that’s what keeps us secure in this unstable, “me focused” world. I’d rather surrender to the Ultimate Judge now and live a purposeful, meaningful life, than randomly stumble through life, always guessing, and never finding significance and self-worth, only to ultimately stand before God, only to hear those condemning words, “Away from Me... I never knew you”.
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Fully Committed....
I’ve stated this many times before and the Bible clearly presents this truth consistently throughout the OT and NT: God reveals Himself to the true seeker, one who is honest with him/herself, and one who is willing to accept God’s ways regardless of the cost. Those that refuse to acknowledge God, or flat out deny Him, miss out on participating in and experiencing God presence and blessings. That’s what the 1st commandment clearly states. It’s an all or nothing kind of commitment, and only those who hearts are willing, will ever find and experience God.
25 At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank You for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. 26 Yes, Father, it pleased You to do it this way!27 “My Father has entrusted everything to Me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.” Matthew 11:25-27

Evidence Against a Distorted View of Jesus...
What do the “all love and no judgement” people say about their distorted View of Jesus here? These words seem very harsh, don’t they? How else do you warn people with the truth when even performing miracles doesn’t effectively change their stance on sin and repentance?
20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where He had done so many of His miracles, because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God. 21 “What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse.22 I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.23 “And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today.24 I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you.” Matthew 11:20-24

Truth Is Undeniable...
Truth is undeniable. Yes, people deny it, fight against it, and refuse to accept it, even when they know it’s real and right. But truth always proves itself, showing itself to be right by its results. It has a perfect track record; a 100% return on investment. Regardless of how people interpret truth and wisdom today, it will continue to reign and set people free from the deception of the world until it serves its full complete purpose. Always side with truth, you may get dirty, but in the end you will be shown to be right. That is where peace, justice, mercy, and love are all found, and there is no law that governs them.

The Truth About Selling Out to Jesus...
Here’s the uncomfortable truth about following Christ Jesus: expect conflict, persecution, and even martyrdom. You won’t hear many sermons being preached in churches today about this, but that doesn’t take away the reality of this truth. The world hates Jesus. Think about what the common reactions are when people mention God in their speech. No big deal, right? God is in all religions, so it’s accepted. Now mention Jesus in your speech and the world jumps all over you. Why? Because Jesus is exclusive. He’s the only way to God, because He is God. People don’t like this exclusivity, and don’t like the fact that they can’t earn their way to God. It’s too easy, so their pride keeps them away. Jesus offends people because it’s only through Him that salvation is possible. It’s His way or no way. And people aren’t willing to go His way, because it’s hard and the road is narrow. How many people, when they become Christ followers, lose out on many relationships because of this newly found faith in God? How many people are abandoned by their family and friends because of this belief system that saves them? Why should becoming a Christian turn the world against you? Because the world hates God, and is His enemy. If they call Jesus names, expect his followers to be called much worse. Being a follower of Jesus and expecting a smooth road throughout life, is an “Americanized”, industrialized nation’s distorted view of reality. Taking up your cross means your willingness to suffer for following the One Who suffered for us all. When you sell out to Jesus, expect to be “sold out “ by the world. It’s just the cold hard truth. But life with Jesus is far better than a life without purpose. You’ll reap eternal rewards, and experience many blessings here on earth, even if you are persecuted for your beliefs. Are you willing to suffer for serving Jesus? Or does that scare you into silence?
“A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and cause them to be killed.22 And all nations will hate you because you are My followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved.23 When you are persecuted in one town, flee to the next. I tell you the truth, the Son of Man will return before you have reached all the towns of Israel.24 “Students are not greater than their teacher, and slaves are not greater than their master.25 Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like their master. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons, the members of My household will be called by even worse names!26 “But don’t be afraid of those who threaten you. For the time is coming when everything that is covered will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all.27 What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear!28 “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. I came not to bring peace, but a sword. 35 ‘I have come to set a man against his father,a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.36 Your enemies will be right in your own household!’ 37 “If you love your father or mother more than you love Me, you are not worthy of being Mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than Me, you are not worthy of being Mine.38 If you refuse to take up your cross and follow Me, you are not worthy of being Mine.39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for Me, you will find it.40 “Anyone who receives you receives Me, and anyone who receives Me receives the Father who sent Me.41 If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. Profess What We Possess...
Christians often forget among the worldly accepted notion of “Christians are to turn the other cheek” mentality, that we are to stand for truth. Fight with the sword of the spirit. Be bold, but do it respectfully. The world needs the TRUTH, it exposes evil, and sets free what is held captive. We are possessors of TRUTH, so we should profess what we possess.

Truth, Love, and Misunderstanding...
I wish more people today would read this passage from Proverbs. If only people could see the truth in these verses. If only they put them into practice. Tolerance, bigotry, hatred, being politically correct, and the distorted definition of love wouldn’t be in the news everyday. They wouldn’t be issues at all. As I always say, “if you truly love someone, you love them enough to tell them the truth”. Part of this is leading someone back who has wandered off the path. What you see as “correcting” or “discipline”, true followers see as real “LOVE”.
My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when He corrects you.12 For the Lord corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:11-12

Be Honest with Yourself...
Be honest with yourself. God knows the real you.
9 End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For You look deep within the mind and heart,O righteous God. 10 God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right.11 God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day. Psalms 7:9-11

Lying Has to Be Fed....
The one thing most often overlooked or forgotten about lying is in order to keep it going you have to feed it. When you tell a lie you have to continue to add to it in order for it to stay alive. One lie turns into another lie, turns into another lie. Sooner than later your lie has now become a 300 page novels of lies. Your fabricated story is now a false lively hood you must continue to pretend to live out. Your pride will not allow you to come clean. Oh, by the way, all of these lies affect other people. Deception is a hurtful weapon we (un)intentionally use to preserve our pride and reputation while abusing the trust others may have in us. In the end all of the destruction this deceitful web we’ve constructed has caused could’ve been avoided if we would’ve just come clean at its inception. Another selfish act that creates havoc in our lives all because our pride dictates “me first”.
11 “But look,” Jacob replied to Rebekah, “my brother, Esau, is a hairy man, and my skin is smooth. 12 What if my father touches me? He’ll see that I’m trying to trick him, and then he’ll curse me instead of blessing me.”13 But his mother replied, “Then let the curse fall on me, my son! Just do what I tell you. Go out and get the goats for me!” Genesis 27:11-13
20 Isaac asked, “How did you find it so quickly, my son?”“The Lord your God put it in my path!” Jacob replied. Genesis 27:20
24 “But are you really my son Esau?” he asked.“Yes, I am,” Jacob replied. Genesis 27:24
35 But Isaac said, “Your brother was here, and he tricked me. He has taken away your blessing.”36 Esau exclaimed, “No wonder his name is Jacob, for now he has cheated me twice. First he took my rights as the firstborn, and now he has stolen my blessing. Oh, haven’t you saved even one blessing for me?” Genesis 27:35-36
41 From that time on, Esau hated Jacob because their father had given Jacob the blessing. And Esau began to scheme: “I will soon be mourning my father’s death. Then I will kill my brother, Jacob.” Genesis 27:41
