The MILLSTONE Road….

In Luke chapter 17 Jesus talks about temptation to sin. He tells us there will always be temptation to sin. That should tell us something. It should tell us we must always be aware. We should always be connected to God, for He alone is the remedy to sin. He talks about the sorrow that awaits those who do the tempting. I’m not sure if He is referring to Satan or people here, but I think it could be both. We all know Satan’s fate. But how often do we think of our own? For the believer, Heaven awaits. If a believer falls, straying away from the faith, he may start to believe that something isn’t as bad as it really is. If he does, and starts to encourage others to participate in this sinful behavior, he must be lovingly taken aside and rebuked. If he listens, he will repent. If he doesn’t, maybe he’s not really a believer to begin with. Either way there are consequences. Any time we cause someone to stumble, to distort their view of God, we are not participating in the will of God. And the worst part about it is we are tarnishing God’s reputation. Jesus said it would be better for a person who does this to be dropped in the ocean with a weight around their neck. In other words dead. It would be better to be dead, than to lead another human being into thinking sin is okay. Think about all the “issues” that are prevalent today: same sex marriage, transgenderism, abortion, people’s definition of love, all the “Christian” faiths, and on and on. All I know is that I never want to be in that position, so I pursue God daily, asking Him for help. Learning to live independently dependent upon God is the key, for He is the only One capable of keeping us from committing this unworthy practice. Ask Him today to search your heart, and clear up any misconceptions you may have that would lead you down this “millstone” road.

One day Jesus said to His disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! 2 It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin.3 So watch yourselves! Luke 17:1-3a
